Our kids are 7 and 9 and we are still learning it doesn’t take much to make them wildly happy. More than anything it takes effort and time. They truly value that more than any material thing we could ever provide. As a parent, time is also fleeting and seems to be passing at the speed of light so it’s worth putting in the effort for each and every minute. One of the best things that has come out of starting this family blog, it’s motivated us to get out and explore this awesome city/state that we live in. We’re making simple yet special memories as a family and going about our days with a bit more intention…thanks for that!
The weather has been really nice here in So. Cal. It’s not too hot so we decided to grab the kids bestie and head to an impromptu trip to the farmer’s market in Northridge, CA. It’s super family friendly with lots to keep the little ones entertained.
They know this which is why I’m sure they were attempting this Jedi mind trick in the back seat. All three of them silently reading in the back seat on the way…clearly a ploy for some bouncy house action and sweet treats once we arrive. I’m not new at this, it did however work like a charm. Apparently they’re not new at this either.
So many fun booths with treasures to explore. These beauties were all hand painted from Mexico. There were many others with vintage clothing, jewelry, incense, candles, delicious oils, lotions and potions.
So many fresh things to smell…
and taste. There are always samples so, that’s a bonus! Sweet treats are everywhere!
And let’s not forget the bouncies.
TJ and I had a quick photoshoot…
and the kids walked away feeling like it was the best Wednesday night ever.
It’s evenings like this that are perfect reminders of the simple joys available to us. All said and done it took a Google search to find the market, a twenty minute drive, and about $30 out of pocket. For that we got fresh strawberries, a play date with three happy kids and a pseudo date night where we got to walk around, acting silly and holding hands. I’ll take that deal any day.
There’s so much more to see and do at this fun farmers market than I bothered to photograph, too busy enjoying that hand holding time I supposed. There’s always live music of some sort playing with so many food options, kids activities, and obviously farm fresh fruits and veggies at prices far better than the grocery store. It takes place Wednesday nights from 5-9pm in the parking lot of the Northridge Fashion Center Mall which is also pretty fantastic so if you’re local check it out. If you’re not, get out and explore the fun little things going on around you. It’s super worth it.
