With so much going on in the world, anything that keeps the kids busy, happy, and focused on creativity, I consider a win! They recently received the Osmo game system as gift from their grandfather AKA Tu-pop, that does just that. We’re big on learning toys here and this is an amazing little system, compatible with an iPad or iPhone. We love it so much, we had to write about it. There are several fun options to choose from but Tu-pop chose “The Creative Set” and “Coding”.
The Creative Set includes three different games within it. Monster, Masterpiece, and Newton. They’re all interactive and SO FUN!
The kids immediately fell for Mr. Monster. He enters the screen, prompts the kids to draw specific items and then pulls those drawings into the scene with him! It was honestly magical the first time they used it. Some really awesome drawings have come from, “Masterpiece”, a drawing tool that allows you to take any picture you want and turn it into a hand made drawing. We found it to be a neat way to combine basic skills with technology.
I was especially excited about this one. It’s a great introduction to the skill as the kids learn that in order to make things happen on the screen they have to build the movements using the tiles, thereby creating “the code”. Learning while playing is always a plus.
Both systems manage to hold their attention for long stretches of time which definitely makes me want to check out other Osmo game systems.
This gift was a winner all around, both mom and kid approved! I’m sure there will be more Ozmo systems on the Christmas list for this year.
