This year our baby girl hit double digits. Now, I’m not sure if it’s because we’ve had tons going on as a family these past few months with moving right after the holidays or if I just sort of blocked it in some way. But, her 10th birthday quickly approached, then passed before I really had time to plan a proper celebration. So what to do? I mean, this is TEN! It’s a big deal, right? Hannah hasn’t had a real “birthday party” since she was three and we had Princess Belle show up. It was time for a ten year old turn up! So, I made up for droppin’ the ball by breakin’ out the big guns. Not only were we having a party, but we’re having her first ever SLEEPOVER! And, not just a regular slumber party, oh no, my friends, Wondertents kindly swooped in, making it the most magical sleepover experience EVER! And BOOM! Just like that, my #momfail instantly flipped to a #momwin!
The theme was “Camp Girl Squad”, built around the “Adventure Camping” WonderTents set up. The second she saw it on their website, she loved it. This particular set up is apparently more popular with boys, but leave it to our girl to go crushing stereotypes!
I had a blast putting this together with some Pinterest inspo and the most random of items. I got creative with things found at JoAnns Crafts and The Dollar Tree. Two yards of burlap made the rustic table cloth and banner, $1 planters became bowls, crates became cakes stands, and firewood became centerpieces. I kept it simple by filling our big orange water cooler with homemade lemonade, and we did pasta for dinner because what kid doesn’t like pasta? Plus, it’s super easy and cost effective when feeding a group. I did make the pasta sauce from scratch though and you’d pretty much think I grew up in Sicily if you tried it. I did not, but it was that good. I’ll post that recipe soon.
Let’s talk about the treats. I’m not sure which ranked higher the tastiness or the beauty of them. They were made to PERFECTION by local LA baker, LaDraiya of OohLaLa Cups. I have always been a big fan of her work, so when this event came up there was no question in who I’d call. All I did was tell her the Camp #GirlSquad idea and she took it from there making the most delicious on theme cookies, #10 cookie cake, and white chocolate covered pretzels. The attention to detail is seriously unmatched and I can NOT recommend her more.
And the tents…what can I possibly say about these tents! Hannah had a track meet in the morning so I stayed back to welcome the team from WonderTents. I really can’t put a price on the look on her face when she came home to see the tents all set up complete with twinkle lights for her big night. Wonder is the right word to describe her face upon entrance. It was just magical! Not only are the tents fantastic but so was the experience. The team was so efficient, kind, and seemed genuinely as excited as I was for Hannah to have this night. They showed up exactly on time, set everything up picture perfect, came back the next morning broke it all down, and hauled it away. All the while, insisting that I just relax. As a mom, I can say…it was dreamy.
As part of the package, each girl received a personalized “sleepover pack” that included a super cute sleep mask, washcloth, toothbrush, and toothpaste. How handy is that?!?
I snagged the ladies a set of #GIRLSQUAD jammies from The Children’s Place. They were offering 60% off online, so I placed my order and picked them up in store, making them the deal of the century and a great parting gift for our guests. I can confidently say, they dug’em because not one girl bothered to change out of them before going home.
Enjoying the fire…
Making friendship bracelets…
Don’t think I didn’t go old school and introduce these kids to the Soul Train line…yep, that happened. I ordered these two tiny disco lights off Amazon. (I had to get the two pack so each of my kids could have one for their room after the party) Best $22 spent ever! They filled the entire downstairs with color and fun making for a fairly epic dance party.
This is 10…as was the level of the sugar high that immediately followed…
Hannah closed the night out cuddling her “Wonder Bear” gifted to her for her birthday and a good animated movie…Ferdinand to be exact. Overall, this was a night that Hannah will remember forever for so many reasons. She celebrated a milestone, with her girl squad, in an extra special way. You can check out the highlights below.
We’d like to thank Wondertents for partnering with us to make this an unforgettable memory for Miss Hannah Love.
